A Recap

·2 mins

Since it’s been a while, I’d like to do a quick recap from where we left off. Long story short, I joined Relay Commerce as a Staff engineer right after the last retro.

When I was writing the last retro in April 2024, it was exactly one year at that point since I had been trying to do my own projects. Some worked, some didn’t, but largely there was no general sense of direction on what I wanted to do. And without a project to drive forward, there was no viable path for me to get to a stage where I could do it continuously full time. And it was getting lonely. So, I wanted to work on bigger projects with a team and work towards a shared mission rather than trying to do everything alone.

Relay Commerce was founded by the team I worked with at SureSwift Capital, so it was an easy fit. I joined them one month later and I’m very happy to have made that decision as I’ve had lots of learning and lots of exciting projects (one of the reasons I restarted this blog, as I have lots of cool stuff I want to write about) since then.

I’ve put a pause on pursuing on any side projects/bootstrapping/startups of any kind, instead focusing on my job full-time and really having fun with the new AI tools and developments.

I’m still building side-projects but that’s more for having fun and experiments than founding a business. That is what I wanted to write about. What an exciting time we live in!
